Our purpose

A craft worth bringing into everyday life.

Aleppo soap has been made the same way for centuries: simple oils, skilled hands and months of patience.

We started ALEPO to bring that craft into everyday life. One honest bar you reach for every morning, made by the people who know it best and clear about what is inside and where it comes from. We work with selected soap-making families in Syria, choose each formula with care and keep the ingredient list short enough to read at a glance.

Ingredients

100% natural. Olive oil at the heart.

Olive oil and laurel berry oil, turned into soap the traditional way. No added fragrance, colourants, preservatives or palm oil.

  • Pure olive oil Aleppo soap beside a dish of olive oil and an olive branch

    Olive oil

The heart of every ALEPO bar. On its own it makes our gentlest soap, with a soft, clean scent, and it forms the base of every laurel blend.

  • Laurel Aleppo soap beside a dish of laurel berry oil, bay leaves and berries

    Laurel berry oil

Pressed from the berries of the laurel tree, it gives Aleppo soap its distinctive earthy scent and character. Choose 10%, 20% or 40% laurel berry oil in the blend.

The craft

Made by hand. Given time.

Every bar goes through the same hands-on steps it has for centuries. Nothing is rushed.

  1. Hot liquid soap being poured across the workshop floor

    Poured

The hot soap is poured across the workshop floor in one broad, even layer.

  2. A hand-pulled blade cutting the set soap into bars

    Cut

Once firm, it is cut into individual bars with a hand-pulled blade.

  3. A maker pressing a stamp into a bar by hand

    Stamped

Each bar is stamped by hand, leaving its own impression.

  4. Soap bars stacked in open towers to dry

    Air-dried for nine months

Bars are stacked in open towers so air can circulate, and left to dry for nine months.

Every bar we ship has already completed its nine months of drying, so there is no extra wait.
